Brian Shapiro brings decades of animal advocacy experience to the Humane Society of the United States. He has led our New York campaigns since 2012, successfully passing legislation ending the sale of illegal ivory and shark fins in the state, in addition to other important animal protection laws. Shapiro is an active member of the New York State Animal Protection Federation, which represents the state’s animal shelters, and he has served as an upstate county legislator and shelter director. He lives in Albany with his two cats, Marius and Franklin.
