Katie Hansberry joined the HSUS in 2012. A graduate of Bowdoin College, she excitedly returned to Maine in pursuit of her passion for helping animals. She leads state and local policy efforts, builds strong relationships with key stakeholders, assists with cruelty cases and serves on the boards of the Maine Federation of Humane Societies and New England Federation of Humane Societies. Previously, she was active in the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund at Boston College Law School and served as program coordinator of the Massachusetts Bar Association’s Animal Law Practice Group. Hansberry lives in Portland with her cat, Goody, named after one of her inspirations, Jane Goodall.
