Debra Berger earned her degree in communications from Georgia State University and worked in various media-related jobs, including Turner Broadcasting. She began her “volunteer profession” in animal protection at the Atlanta Humane Society in the 1980s and continued pursuing her passion for animal protection in various roles ranging from direct care to advocacy. In 2010, she became certified as a Humane Education Specialist and founded Georgia Center for Humane Education. Berger is utilizing her varied skillset to help animals in Georgia through legislation, policy, education and volunteer engagement. She believes that all animals deserve our compassion and care, and is proud to represent the Humane Society of the United States in Georgia.
